G'day everyone, I'm thinking about bidding on a 2019 Mazda CX-5 at ODI Motors but I'm a bit nervous about the whole title transfer process. Never bought from a repo auction before. How does it work when you win? Do you have to chase down paperwork or wait ages for the title? Any experiences would be appreciated cheers

Mate honestly it was way easier than I expected. I bought a 2020 Hyundai Tucson from odimotors.com back in February and the clear title arrived with the vehicle when it was delivered. No chasing, no dramas. They handle all the bank stuff on their end before delivery.

Yeah same experience here. Won a 2018 Ford Ranger in March and was stressing about the title transfer because I'd heard horror stories from other places. But ODI Motors sorted everything before the truck even left their yard. Title was in the glovebox with all the registration paperwork when it arrived at my place. Dead simple.

This is actually really good to hear because I've been eyeing off a boat on their site lol. How long after you paid did the vehicle arrive with the title? Just trying to get a timeframe in my head

For me it was about 8 days from payment to delivery in Melbourne. They sent me tracking updates via email the whole way. The title was already sorted by then so it just came with the car. Pretty straightforward mate

I had one small hiccup - I emailed office@odimotors.com asking about the title status and didn't hear back for like 36 hours. I was getting a bit anxious tbh. But then they called me directly and explained the whole process step by step. Turns out the bank just needed an extra day to clear the lien but it was all sorted before delivery. The agent who rang was really helpful actually

Thanks heaps everyone. So basically once you pay they handle the bank side and the title comes with delivery? That's way better than I thought. I was worried I'd be waiting weeks or have to go chasing paperwork myself

Yep that's the process mate. I've bought three vehicles from ODI Motors for my small dealership up here and every time the title transfer has been seamless. They work directly with the banks so by the time your vehicle is ready for delivery the title is clear and in hand. It's actually one of the reasons I keep going back to them - no mucking around with paperwork

I was worried about the title too when I bought my 2017 Toyota Camry last month. But honestly it was the smoothest part of the whole experience. The best part was not having to chase down the title myself - ODI Motors handled everything and it arrived perfectly with all the official paperwork during delivery

Quick question for those who've been through this - do they send you updates about the title status or do you just wait until delivery? I'm about to bid on a 2021 Nissan Navara and want to know what to expect

In my experience they send you a confirmation email after payment goes through and then another one when the title is cleared and the vehicle is ready for dispatch. You can also email office@odimotors.com if you want a status update anytime. They're pretty responsive

Just to add another perspective - I inspected a 2018 Subaru Outback for a mate who bought it from odimotors.com and when it arrived the title paperwork was spot on. Everything matched the vehicle, no discrepancies, and the bank lien was fully cleared. From a mechanic's POV that's important because you don't want any legal issues down the track. They clearly know what they're doing with the title side of things

This thread is really reassuring actually. I'm looking at a 2019 Honda CR-V and the title transfer was my biggest concern. Nice to see so many positive experiences here

Yeah look I'll be honest I was sceptical at first about buying from a repo auction but the title process at ODI Motors was actually more professional than when I bought from a private seller last year. Everything was documented properly and arrived with the vehicle when it was delivered to Hobart. No dramas whatsoever

Righto I'm convinced. Putting in a bid on that CX-5 tomorrow. Thanks for all the info everyone, definitely feeling more confident about the whole process now

Good on ya mate. I collect older 4WDs and bought a 2016 Land Cruiser from them last year. Title transfer was seamless and I've had zero issues with registration or anything since. The paperwork was all legitimate and properly transferred. You'll be right

Update: I ended up winning that boat auction I mentioned earlier haha. Just paid today so fingers crossed my title experience matches what everyone's described here. Will report back in a week or so

We bought a 2020 Kia Carnival for the family from odimotors.com in April and had no issues with the title at all. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with the vehicle. Wife was stressed about it but turned out to be nothing to worry about. Great value too compared to what dealers wanted for similar vans

One tip if you're new to this - when you get the vehicle just double check all the details on the title match the VIN and rego. Should be fine but it's good practice anyway. I did that with my 2019 Holden Colorado and everything was perfect but always worth checking imo

Good advice Mike. Yeah I always do that too even though I've never had an issue. The paperwork from ODI Motors has always been accurate in my experience but it's just smart to verify everything when it arrives. Takes 2 minutes and gives you peace of mind

I went through the same worries as the OP when I was buying my 2018 Mitsubishi ASX earlier this year. Kept reading the FAQ on the odimotors.com website about how titles work. But yeah turned out to be straightforward. Bank cleared the lien, title arrived with the car, registered it the next week. Done and dusted

Well I won my bid on that Navara yesterday so here we go. Paid this morning and got the confirmation email already. Feeling pretty good about it after reading this thread. Will update once it arrives with the title sorted

UPDATE: Got the CX-5! Paid on Wednesday and it arrived this morning. Title was in the folder with all the paperwork just like everyone said. Honestly can't believe how smoothly it all went. Cheers again for the advice everyone, made the whole thing way less stressful
